Hello Beauty Lovers!
I am super excited to be reviewing the jane iredale Starter Kit for all of you! Jane Iredale is a cruelty free company and some of their products are vegan and gluten free. Mineral makeup is one of those things that has always fascinated me because it focuses on not just covering your imperfections but also being good for you skin. The Starter Kit that I received is in the shade Light and includes the Smooth Affair Primer, the Amazing Base in Warm Silk, the PurePressed Base in Warm Silk, a Mini Powder Brush and POMMIST. If you are new to mineral makeup this is the perfect kit for you because you get to experience both a pressed and a loose powder and you get the primer and setting spray, which I think are really essential in any makeup routine. So I am going to break down this review product by product and then how they all work together. This kit retails for $76 CAN and has a value of $94 CAN. This is an amazing way to get started with mineral makeup both as a gift for someone else or for yourself. You can purchase it here!
There is a a handy online quiz that can help you determine both your perfect shade and your perfect product, I found it to be ver helpful, check it out here!
Amazing Base
Let me just start by saying I love powder foundations, I always prefer them to powder because I find that they are better on my uneven skin and hide dry patches better than liquid, they also feel a lot better on the skin. This is by far the best I have tried. Here are the claims on the website:
I would say that it is light coverage that you can build to medium coverage. The SPF in it is great because lets be honest, some of us (myself included) slack when it comes to SPF protection, so I always appreciate when it is built in to my products. I love that it is free of oil, dyes, talc and parabens because that just isn't stuff you need on your skin. I will say it covered my redness incredibly well, like almost completely without any concealer. It canceled out my redness while still looking like my skin, and it feels like nothing is on my face. And it didn't show ANY dry patches, which was amazing because I do have eczema and sometime products will show how bumpy and rough my skin is. This product did not show any of it, it blurred the imperfections and made my skin look normal. The only critique I have is that the shade is a little dark for my skin, when I order the full size I will get the shade Ivory instead because it is a little lighter and more neutral.

PurePressed Base
I have always loved pressed powders, there is a convenience and an ease of use with them. Personally I always have a pressed powder foundation in my bag because I find they are great for touch ups throughout the day, especially if you have allergies like me and are always blowing your nose. I have not yet tried the PurePressed Base by itself as a foundation because the coverage is more sheer as per the website and I like extra coverage. How I used it today was to blot my nose throughout the day as it is crazy hot in my city. I also used it to add a little extra coverage to my under eyes and blemishes with a small precise brush that picks up a bit more product.
I am going to try using this as my primary foundation tomorrow to see how it does by itself and then I will be able to give a more comprehensive review. It does say that the coverage is sheer so I'm not expecting it to cover anything, but it might be nice when I just want to do brows, mascara and a quick bit of coverage. I find pressed powders to be very travel friendly. I really like that it also has SPF protection and again it leaves out some ingredients that just really aren't good for your skin. It seems to be a little lighter than the loose powder even though it is the same shade so this colour does work a bit better on me.
